What’s in my bag: Anitya Chand

Anitya Chand on equipment watch for 2015

2009

With every passing year, there is new equipment on offer and plenty of options to choose from. In a series of interviews, golfingindian.com brings you conversations with several pros on what’s in their bag, their expectations from 2015 equipment shelves and what tools define their tricks. Here’s one with the head of the DLF Academy – winner of the India Golf Awards 2013 Edition – Anitya Chand.

Q: What’s the most useful club in your bag and why?

Anitya: I would say my sand wedge as I use it for a variety of shots around the green from short grass or thick rough or the bunker. Helps me make those crucial up and downs and save shots!!

Q: What irons do you use, since when and why do they work for you?

Anitya: I have been using the Callaway Apex irons with KBS Tour 90 steel shafts since December 2013. They’re midsize heads giving me the ideal balance between a blade playability and oversize forgiveness and I love the way they sit behind the ball at address. The shafts are light enough for me to control and get me the higher ball flight that helps to control the golf ball when it lands on the green.

Q: What golf accessory you cannot do without?

Anitya: I need to have my pitch mark repairer with me when I play. Out of habit, the pitch mark that is created by my golf ball and any additional that I see just has to be repaired before I step off a green – a good pitch mark repairer comes in handy!!

Q: What’s on your hot list for 2015?

Anitya: Can’t wait for the new Big Bertha irons from Callaway – theyre supposed to be at least one club longer than regular clubs. Am happy to let technology help my game better, now that I don’t get much time to practice or improve it myself
