October 14, 2015: Indian golf fans have a reason to rejoice the start of this PGA TOUR season considering this is going to be the first full year on the TOUR for Anirban Lahiri. The man himself is in Macao this week defending his title, but the Frys.com Open will mark the beginning of the new season with a strong field on the table at the Silverado Resort & Spa. Rory McIlroy headlines the action this week and his presence underlines the Northern Irishman’s keen desire to correct course after a major less season in 2015.

There will be 144 professionals vying for the $6mn prize with as many as eight major winning players among the field. Justin Rose, Webb Simpson, Charl Schwartzel, Angel Cabrera, Geoff Ogilvy, Lucas Glover and Justin Leonard join McIlroy to promise an engaging start to the 2015-16 season.

A long list of recent tournament winners are in attendance too – Brandt Snedeker, Steven Bowditch, Ben Crane, James Hahn, Russell Henley, J.J. Henry, Matt Jones, Chris Kirk, Brooks Koepka, Hunter Mahan, Ryan Moore, Seung-Yul Noh, Hideki Matsuyama, Troy Merritt, Ben Martin, John Senden, Robert Streb, Kevin Streelman, Nick Taylor, Nick Watney and Brendon Todd.

Rookie of the year – Daniel Berger will spearhead a bunch of young hopefuls coming through the Web.com Tour and the qualifiers will provide a nice mix of young talent to look forward as the wrap around season begins just 18 days after the last one has ended.

The wrap around lasts seven weeks with tournaments every week before the TOUR breaks for another brief off season and Christmas festivities.

The next event is the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open (Oct. 17-20) in Las Vegas followed by the CIMB Classic (Oct. 24-27) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; the WGC-HSBC Champions (Oct. 31-Nov. 4) in Shanghai, China; The McGladrey Classic (Nov. 7-10) at Sea Island, Ga.; and the OHL Classic at Mayakoba (Nov. 14-17) in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
