October 5, 2013. Delhi’s Gurbani Singh clinched comfortable win at the USHA Chandigarh Ladies and Junior Girls Golf Championship 2013. Gurbani won by a whopping margin of 11 strokes. With this win, she further extended her lead on the top in the Order of Merit of the Indian Golf Union (IGU) Ladies Amateur Golf Tour 2013 Order of Merit list.

Representing North Zone, Gurbani was pre-tournament favourite; she showed amazing consistency and maturity to lead right through the three-day competition. She was the only golfer to card a sub-par round on Day 2 of the tournament.

Gursimar Badwal finished second with a total score of 231.

Though, the final day turned out to be disappointing for Gurbani, finishing eventually with a score of five over 77 with a cumulative score of 220. It however proved to be more than sufficient in the end and was the equal best score of the day. She had ended Day 2, 10 strokes to the good and did one better today. She registered a total of five bogeys and one double bogey to go with one birdie on the final day.

Gursimar matched Gurbani in the final score of the day, carding six bogeys and a birdie in the process, but a score of 8 over 80 on Day 2, had already dashed all her hopes for the title. Tvesa Malik finished third overall and carded a 6 over 78 on the final day.

Ridhima Dilawari and Gauri Monga finished fourth and fifth respectively and Millie Saroha, who was expected to give the best fight to Gurbani before the tournament, ended seventh with a total score of 236. Seher Atwal also registered a top 10 finished with a score of 244.

The IGU Ladies tour moves to Gurgaon’s Classic Golf Resort next (Oct 8-11) and with a total of three more tournaments to go for the tour to conclude. Gurbani is looking forward to retain her winning consistency.
