October 23, 2013. Bangalore lad B Harshath took advantage of the lop-sided performance of his rivals to bag a six-shot lead at the end of the second round of the first National final of the Tata Steel IGU Sub-Junior Tour being played at the Tollygunj Club here on Wednesday. Harshath brought in the day’s best card of 5-over 75 to be 13-over 153 for the tournament while topping the leaderboard.
Sohum Vij was second at 159 while overnight leader Ribhav Kapur slipped to the tied-third position after a dismal card of 84 along with Shabeg Singh Kooner who brought in a score of 83. Siddhanth Jain was lying fifth at 165 while Pramod Singh was sixth at 166.Kolkata lad Sharif Khan was seventh at 167.
Kshitij Kaul was leading in Category C while Aadil Bedi, Devansh Chadha and Sandeep Yadav were all tied for second place at 75. Sunhit Kumar Bishnoi was fifth at 78.
Harshath began with a birdie but failed to capitalize on his form as he made a double on the third and made bogeys on the 5th, 6th, 8th and 9th to be 5-over after his front nine. On the back nine a birdie on the 11th was followed by a bogey on the 13th and a birdie on the 14th. With a bogey on the penultimate hole, Harshath was back in the club house with a total of 5-over for the day. “I just went about playing my own game without any special plans. I hope to win the tournament from here,” said the leader after the round.
