January 17, 2014: India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar mustred his talent to match some of the best in the world with a round of 68 on the second day at theAbu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship to finish tied 13th. Meanwhile,  Scotsman Craig Lee joined Spain’s Rafael Cabrera-Bello to take midway lead.

However, India’s Jeev Milkha Singh could not keep the pace and slipped to 60th place after four disastrous bogeys to end the round with three over 75. Shiv Kapur(71-72) will enter weekend tied 43rd on the leader board.

Finest shot came from England’s Danny Willett as he carded 63 to lie third with his first round of 73.

The 36-year- old Lee is looking for his first win after losing out to Thomas Björn in a play-off for the Omega European Masters last September.

“I think Santa has brought me a good putting stroke for Christmas,” Lee said after his round. “I don’t know what’s happening out there but I’m holing a lot of putts and that’s definitely the difference.”

Overnight co-leader Cabrera-Bello did reach ten under par with his sixth birdie of the day, but dropped a shot at the ninth, his last.

That saw the Spaniard sign for a 68, as Cabrera-Bello continued to impress on his first start of the calendar year.

“I am playing well, putting good, and putting the ball in play, hitting the fairways and so I’m feeling confident,” he said.

Rory McIlroy too swung into action on day two with a round of  to share fourth position with Thomas Bjorn(70-67) of Denmark and Argentina’s Ricardo Gonzalez(71-66).

Five-time Major winner, Phil Mickelson returned a 70 to lie one under.

All three Indians will play through weekend.
