May 15, 2015: Jeev Milkha Singh showed great heart and purpose in playing one of the best rounds of his season so far to make the cut at the elite Open de Espana. This is only the second time that he has made the cut this season, the other instance being in Delhi for the Indian Open in February.

Jeev was at 2-over at the end of the first round, facing yet another missed cut and the disappointment that accompanies it. But he reeled off three birdies in the first five holes to wipe away the deficit and move to 1-under.

The 1101th ranked Indian remained under par through eight holes, before surrendering a shot at the par-4 ninth, just as he did in the first round too.

Having made the turn in 34 shots, Jeev threatened to unravel again when he gifted away another shot at the par-4 12th hole to slip into the red again.

After making five straight pars from then on, Milkha Singh ensured he retired to the clubhouse with a broad grin on his charming visage. He shot a birdie at the 18th to avenge the bogey he suffered on Thursday at the same hole to sign off on a positive note and start thinking about a promising weekend.

With the leader Ricardo Gonzalez only at 6-under, Jeev has a tremendous opportunity to build his way up the ladder and bring up a solid finish to his week on Sunday.

The 43 year old is coming off some regenokine treatment in Germany recently to treat the chronic inflammation in his battered shoulders. The fact that he worked his way back into the tournament after a disappointing start in the first round should give the Indian golfer both confidence and energy to push forth and discover some good results this week and beyond.
