June 09, 2015: Jeev Milkha Singh will be the lone Indian this week at the Lyoness Open in Austria. The iconic golfer will continue his quest to regain his touch, working his way back from injury and loss of form.

After missing the cut at the Africa Open and Tshwane Open, Singh finished T33 at the Open de Espana. It was a hugely positive result for the 43 year old, who believes there is some good golf ahead of him.

At the BMW PGA Championship a week later in May, Jeev finished just outside the top 50 in a quality field. Just when it looked like Singh might have found an upswing in his fortunes, the Irish Open tested the Indian severely.

Difficult conditions and a demanding course proved to be a stiff test at the DDF Irish Open, where he missed the cut at 12-over 154 through two rounds.

Earlier this month, Jeev got off to a steady 71-73 start at the Nordea Masters. But over the next two rounds, the Indian shot 74 and 77 to slip down the order, leaving with a tinge of disappointment.

As he arrives in the Austrian town of Atzenbrugg this week, Singh will know that the cogs are in place. The challenge for the Indian will be to piece them together well enough to shoot a low round and gain in confidence.

Ranked 1001 in the world currently, Singh is well aware of the arduous climb that lay ahead of him. The past few weeks have offered him some very positive signals and he will look to build on them as he continues his journey on the road to recovery.

Singh’s victory at the Scottish Open in 2012 has kept the door open for him at several of the European Tour events, including the Austrian Open this week. A good week at the Diamond Country Club will help Jeev build momentum as he works to rediscover the kind of golf that he is capable of.
