January 11, 2015: The Gujarat Inter School Championship saw Junior Golfers participating from 22 schools across Western India. As many as 43 junior golfers participated under category A,B,C,D & E boys & girls. It was very encouraging to see juniors representing various schools from Mumbai, Bharuch, Baroda, Gandhinagar & Ahmedabad participate in the “Stroke play” tournament.

In the main event, Abhidyu Adukia won the title among Category A with an eleven point margin over Maharshi Patel with scores of 80 and 91 respectively.

Mohnish Shah (80) won in Category B with a seven point margin over Rachit Mankoti. Vihaan Patel with a score of 51 trumped Arya Shah who tallied 73 in Category C.

Krish Sood (64) beat Rudra Sinh in Category D by ten points. Mitarth Rana won a countback over Rehan Aswani after both players tied on 53 in Category E.

Parina Patel was the girls winner in Category A while Chelsia Thakkar (87) defeated Tanasha Patel (102) in Category B.

Besides the scores, there were several other categories, including best dressed golfer, that were recognised during the tournament.

Yashashree Mehta from Ahmedabad won the putting competition, with Adit Mashruwala, also from Ahmedabad, was the runner-up in the competition among under 12 year old children.

In the chipping competition, it was again Yashashree Mehta who ran away with the top honours. Veer Naik was the runner up in this category.

Then there was the Straight Drive competition. Adit Mashruwala, the runner up in the putting competition won the event, besting Veer Naik who was second and the rest of the field.

Daivya Patel was selected the best dressed golfer, underlining the importance of etiquette in golf. Speaking of etiquette, Ria Shah was awarded the golfer with the finest etiquette on show at the event.
