Lahiri at No.3 on the Order of Merit

India's Anirban Lahiri has scaled to No. 3 position in the Asian Tour's Order of Merit after his impressive third place finish at the season ending US$ 1 million King's Cup on Sunday

January 20, 2014: India’s Anirban Lahiri has scaled to No. 3  position on the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit after his impressive third place finish at the season ending US$ 1 million King’s Cup on Sunday.

 

Lahiri won one Asian Tour title at the SAIL-SBI Open and three runners up finishes in 2013 season.

 

“It has been a great season for me to finish on a high. Hopefully I go out and work more on my fitness and game and come back stronger for the new season,” said the 26-year-old Indian.

 

Three time Asian tour winner has also sealed a place in the Asian team for the  first Eurasia Cup to be held in March this  year.

 

Lahiri who turned Pro in 2007, and  has risen from his 111th rank in 2008 to 3rd rank this season. He surpassed the claim of his friend and compatriot Gaganjeet Bhullar with a total earning of  US$ 517’030 in 2013.  The three Asian tour titles to his name  includes Panasonic Open2011 India, 2012 SAIL-SBI Open 2012 and SAIL-SBI Open, 2013. All won in his home country.

 

Vipassana follower Lahiri recently got engaged to his long time girlfriend Ipsa Jamwal and declared that he is in a posive frame of mind to take up any challenge in the coming year. It is certainly a  sign of a great start to his new season.
