April28, 2014: He was at his humblest best, as a 20-foot eagle on 18th hole at Royale Jakarta ensured that his first victory out of home soil gets confirmed. Right move at opportune time has catapulted Anirban Lahiri to ascend to the top of Asian Tour’s Order of Merit and 67th in the world.

The dual bonanza for Lahiri not only came from Rs 89 lakh prize money that he earned after winning CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters, but also that his Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) soared to 67th leaving the world of opportunities wide open for him.

“Good progress towards my annual target, leading the order of merit in Asia and up to 67th in the world rankings. Head down, follow through. Gotta keep going,” was modest reaction from Anirban to golfingindian.com.

There’s more to follow if the EurAsia-cup star is able to reach within top 60 by June 9 and remain within 100 in OWGR till July 27th, he will be able to be a part of US Open, PGA Championships and final two Majors of 2014 season.

The fourth time Asian Tour title winner has performed exceedingly well from the beginning of 2014 season. Besides this win, 26-year-old finished tied 3rd at Kings Cup, Hua Hin, he ended 8th at SAIL-SBI Open, where he had entered as defending champion. Lahiri was tied 10th at Maybank Malaysian Open last week.

Lahiri, who turned pro in 2007, has won 15 titles so far. His first breakthrough on Asian Tour came in 2011 when he won Panasonic Open. He had back-to-back wins in SAIL-SBI Open in 2012 and 2013.  CIMB Niaga Indonesian Open is his fourth title on the tour. Lahiri finished tied 31st in his first appearance in The Open Championships in 2012.
