November 16, 2016: The 8th Albatross International Junior Golf Championship 2016 was a grand success with boys and girls from nine countries assembling in Noida for the event. Phuripon Namkang of Australia took the category A boys title in a playoff of Gurgaon golfer Manav Bais. The two boys were tied at a score of 216 from three rounds before Aussie edged the Indian in the playoff for the main event of the championship. Adil Bir Singh came in third with a total of 222. Amrita Anand of Noida won the category A event for girls with a score of 220, six better than that of Ananya Barthakur.

Manav Bais was a picture of consistency through the week, producing three even rounds of 72 to account for his tally of 216. Phuripon Namkang, on the other hand, took a circuitous route. He shot scores of 75-67-74 in his three rounds.

Saurav Rathi (228) pipped Thai boy Wanipun Meesom by a solitary shot to take the title in category B. Thai boys swept the C category competition, taking the top three spots. Weerawish Narkprachar (223) edged his compatriot Pongsapak Laopakdee by one shot to take the title.

Achira Chumchaivate (226) of Thailand beat Jujhar Singh of India by a three stroke margin to take the honours among category D for boys.

Bhumkit Pitchayasaowapak was a runaway winner in category E for boys. He scored a sensational 17 stroke victory over his compatriot Kirk Supavanicyanon after completing his three rounds of nine holes at a score of 108. Krish Chawla of Chandigarh came third with a score of 130.

In category B for girls, Nicha Kanpai of Australia outlasted Pranavi S Urs in a tense playoff. The two girls were tied in at 231 after three rounds before the Aussie stole the march over Indian her opponent.

Anushka Borkar finished second in category C, eight strokes behind the winner Phannarai Meesom, who finished with a  score of 215.
