July 9, 2013. With golf seeing phenomenal growth in India, golfers from the neighboring countries have opted to train their best talents here. Top two amateur Nepalese players, Dinesh Prajapati and Bikash Bogati today left for India for two-month training at the Golden Greens Golf Club in Gurgaon.

 

All eyes on 17th Asian games to be held next year at Incheon, The Surya Nepal NGA Youth Golf Development Programme have decided to train them in India to ensure a medal.

 

Surya Nepal will bear all the expenses of the two players during their stay in India, while professional golfer RK Pradhan, who owns Shrestha Holidays, has arranged accommodation, informed the Nepal Golf Association (NGA) during the farewell at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.

The NGA has sent another member, Bishnu Sharma, to South Korea for three-month training .

 

“Due to budget constraint, we could not send other three players — Sunil KC, Ashish Pariyar and Michael Rai — for the foreign training but I will be taking special care of these players,” said coordinator,CB Bhandari.

 

Nepal Golf Association is taking every step to ensure a medal in golf at forthcoming Asiad.

 

“We have around 14 months left to make these players ready for the Asian Games and we are intensifying our training with foreign training programmers,” added Bhandari.

 

“Previously we used to participate in international events with a training of two or three months. But this time, we have been preparing these players for longer period,” said the professional golfer. “We believe we can achieve good results and for that we have to be prepared well,” hopeful Bhandari said.

 

“Their performance will be assessed when the Surya Nepal Golf Tour resumes in September and we will know where these players stand,” added Bhandari.
