February 27, 2014: Bangalore’s Sharmila Nicollet is finally back to where she belongs, in winning circle, she has won the fourth leg of Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour 2014. Nicollet finished the final round with seven-shot lead over her nearest rival and winner of first two legs of HWPGT, Vani Kapoor. This is Nicollet’s first win of the season.
Nicollet’s ( 71-68-69) final round of 69 had five birdies against two bogeys and a double bogey on 14th to end with total score of 208. While, Vani scored (72-72-71) 215 to finish runners up in the fourth leg. Saaniya Sharma finished third.
Sharmila, who has been struggling with her consistency for a while, ensured that she would not repeat her previous mistakes. She maintained her advantage from day one to come back victorious.
Vani played another steady round to finish second with a final round score of one over 71 and a total of 215 but could not match up to Nicollet’s fiery form. Vani carded four birdies on the second, fifth, 13th and 16th holes and had five bogeys on the third, fourth, seventh, eighth and 10th holes.
Saaniya, with a final round score of four over 74 and a total of 220, finished third. Kolkata golfer Neha Tripathi was tied fourth with Ankita Tiwana with identical total scores of 221 over three rounds. Veteran golfer, Smriti Mehra finished sixth with a final round score of four over 74 and a total of 223.
The Rs.5,00,000 event was the fourth in the series of 14 this year.
