13 May, 2018: Sometimes dreams come true for those willing to believe and work hard. Palakshi Sehrawat will have her chance to realise some dreams when she travels to Europe this month with a contingent of around 20 young golfers. The youngster is all set to represent India in the US Kids European Championship. The event will be held in Scotland at the end of this month – 29, 30 & 31 May.

Palakshi was just four when her father Sandeep drew her along to a golf course. The toddler was immediately in love with the game and its surroundings.

The Gurgaon girl is set to take part in this well regarded junior competition among an eager collection Indian participants. Palakshi will play in the under-12 category.

“Palakshi won her age group in the Paris Junior Cup, that’s why she is participating in this tournament,” said Drew Felton, a US Kids Golf Foundation official.

Palakshi has been in good form recently. She won gold at the 52nd Lufthansa Junior Golf Tour event. The event featured 90 of the best junior girls testing their skills at the DLF Golf & Country Club.

“I left no stone unturned and thoroughly prepared for the tournament. I was confident of achieving success this time, (and) this victory has further boosted my confidence,” explained the class-VI student of Suncity School. “I am thankful to my parents and school for their wonderful support.”

The school has been very supportive of Palakshi’s pursuit of the game. The girl too seems to have also worked hard to earn the trust and support of the school.
The young girl already has a well defined schedule of golf, fitness and a structured diet program. All of that help Palakshi make the best of her talent when she plays in an event. Palakshi is at the Qutab Golf Course at least four days a week honing her approach and skills.
“Palakshi has made not only me but the entire country proud. She is very hard-working and adheres to her basics,” said her coach Harish Singh. “However, there is still a lot of scope for improvement and we are working on her weaknesses together,”
Palakshi seems to hold plenty of promise for Indian golf in the years to come. At the moment though, the 10 year old champion golfer can make the most of her opportunities to shape her promising career.
