June 10, 2014. Shiv Kapur’s is preparing full swing for his maiden US Open in Pinehurst No.2 later this week. Already at the venue he is busy picking up tips and making notes on the greens, which can be pretty hard and quick at US Open courses. The Asian Games Gold medalist skipped a few tournaments on the European Tour to get in early into the United States to practise on a few different courses. He has been playing a bit on courses in Upstate New York and now is firmly pitched at the US Open venue to make the most of the practise sessions.

“I played nine holes yesterday and today at Pinehurst,” said Kapur in an exclusive interview with golfingindian.com. “I earlier practised at Hudson National and the Sebonack Golf Club.”

Kapur realised that playing in America is a bit different than other courses around the world. It’s a fairway game. “In America, you need to really focus on driving straight and getting fairways. You cannot limp your way through a course like Pinehurst. So there is plenty of work to do. The greens for the US Open are often hard and fast and so I will need to work towards them.”
