Prize fund announced for the 145th Open at Royal Troon

Only professional golfers will be awarded with The 145th Open prize money

The Champion Golfer of the Year will win £1,175,000 at The 145TH Open at Royal Troon.

The R&A announced that the total prize money will be £6,500,000, an increase of £200,000 from last year’s Championship.

Martin Slumbers, Chief Executive of The R&A, said, “The Open is one of the world’s great sporting events and it is important that this is reflected in the prize fund. We want to continue to attract the world’s best golfers to compete in the Championship each year and to enhance its global appeal.”

Prize money shall be allocated only to professional golfers.

If more than 70 professional golfers qualify for the final two rounds, additional prize money will be added. Prize money will decrease by £100 per qualifying place above 70 to a minimum of £9,000.

Non-qualifiers after two rounds:  Leading 10 professional golfers and ties £4,625; next 20 professional golfers and ties £3,700; remaining professional golfers £3,100.
