October 07, 2014: India’s Raksha Phadke showcased her immense promise with a terrific 65 to power her Kent State University team into the final round of the Schooner Fall Classic. The sophomore helped her team post a brilliant 6-under 274 on the second day of the event to help them reach the final round in second place. The Kent State score of 274 is the lowest round total ever in women’s golf history, to edge past the previous best of 276 made in 2006.

“The weather was good and we took advantage of it,” said Greg Robertson, the head coach of the university team . “We made a lot of birdies today. This was the round I’ve been waiting to see for a while now. We really put a lot together.”

Raksha Phadke, who plays for the Indian team got the team off to a flyer shooting six birdies in her round of 5-under 65. The round marked a career best for Phadke, while equalling Kent State’s individual round record. In the individual standings though, Phadke was T7 at 3-under overall.

The Mississippi State retained a four shot advantage, the leader at 10-under overall after compiling a second day round score of 7-under. “We still have 18 holes left,” a confident Robertson added, “and we need to stay focused and just keep playing the same game plan. I think they are confident and relaxed.”
