September 10, 2015: Bengaluru’s Sharmila Nicollet returned with a score of 2 over 74 on Day Two to retain her lead in the 16th Leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2015 at the Delhi Golf Club here on Thursday. One stroke behind is amateur Tvesa Malik with a total of 147 after the second round. The INR 6,00,000 event will culminate tomorrow.

Hero Motocorp sponsored Sharmila Nicollet, who is chasing her second title of the season, played a cautious front nine carding two birdies on the 2nd and 5th holes and a double bogey on the 3rd hole. Her return journey was quite eventful as she carded three birdies on the 10th, 14th and 18th holes, along with the same number of bogies on the 12th,13th and 15th holes . A double on the 15thcontributed to the damage and she finished with a total score of 146 after two rounds. Her tally of five birdies was the maximum by any golfer on the day.

Tvesa Malik who started the day in tied third position played a birdie-less front nine with a lone bogey on the 8th hole. She started her back-nine with a birdie on the 10th hole and could have ended the day tied for the first spot but for a bogey on the 16th. She finished Round Two with a score of 1 over 73 to stay just a shot adrift of the leader.

Rookie Amandeep Drall and Delhi’s Gauri Monga are placed tied 3rd with identical totals of 148 after the end of the second day. Amandeep returned with a card of 1 under 71, the only under par score of the day. The Panchkula professional’s round consisted of two birdies on the 3rd and 9th holes, with a lone blemish on the 2nd. Gauri Monga started with a birdie on the 1st hole, but could not sustain the momentum and dropped three consecutive shots on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. She dropped one more shot on the 16th hole, but a birdie on the last hole rescued her and helped to stay in contention with a score of 2 over 74.

Veteran Smriti Mehra, Gursimar Badwal and amateur Diksha Dagar are in tied fifth position with a total of 151 after 36 holes. Kolkata’s Smriti Mehra could not replicate her opening day’s form and her error-prone round included seven bogies on the 1st, 3rd, 5th,6th,7th, 10th and 16th holes, with just a lone birdie on the 17th. She finished with a score of 6 over 78. Gursimar Badwal struggled to stitch together a series of confident shots and her round consisted of two birdies on the 6th and 15th holes, along with four bogies on the 1st, 7th, 10th and 13th. Diksha Dagar played a birdie-less front nine with four bogies on the 3rd, 4th, 8th and 9th holes. However, she got more aggressive as the day progressed and played a blemish-free back nine with two birdies on the 13th and 14th holes. Both Gursimar and Diksha returned a card of 2 over 74.

Delhi’s Ankita Tiwana is placed in eighth position with a total of 153 followed by Hero Order of Merit Leader Vani Kapoor in ninth spot with a total of 154 after two days.
