January 14, 2014: Shiv Kapur has seen one of the best season of his golfing career in 2013, now his target is to zoom into top 50 in the world. He wants to begin this with a win on European Tour. After losing his European Tour card in 2012, Shiv ensured his place this year after clinching two solid wins on European Challenge Tour in 2013, besides shining at the top of the leaderboard of The British Open amid the stellar field at Muirfield on the opening day.

 

The 31-year-old Delhi golfer, whose second win at the Dubai Festival City Challenge that ensured him an European Tour card, is now all set to begin 2014 at the HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship.

“My target this year will to to win on the European Tour. Once I do that, I can concentrate on the Majors. I will look to try and contend in more Major championships. Also, I am aiming to improve my world rankings, try to get into the top-50,” Shiv was speaking at a promotional event in Delhi.

 

“But more than that, I will try to be a better player than 2013 which I believe will take care my goals this season,” said Kapur, who along with top woman golfer Sharmila Nicolett, was named brand ambassador of the Marriott Group of Hotels India.

 

“I am also targeting to play on the PGA Tour post July.”

 

The golfer had recently worked on his short game with his Italian coach.

 

“I felt that was one area in my game that was not world-class. It let me down in a few ocassions. There is always room for improvement. I also feel if I can improve my pitching and chipping at least 10 per cent I will have more winning chances.”

 

Shiv is confident to acheive his goal harping on his injury-free and in-form status.
