June 11, 2014. Shiv Kapur is playing his maiden US Open at Pinehurst this weekend and is the only Indian in the field. Paired with German Maximillan Kieffer and Wen-Chong from China, he appears all set with his equipment. Kapur who qualified for the US Open through the international qualifying rounds at Surrey, spent a few hours at the Callaway Europe Headquarters fixing his tournament gear and getting his equipment a few tweaks.

While his recent form has been a bit mixed, he had a nice run late in 2013 that included a victory in the Dubai Festival City Challenge Tour Grand Final and also tied for second at the Foshan Open. He enters the week 177th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Kapur who is very excited and is busy preparing for the The US Open in United States said in an exclusive interview, “This means a lot to me especially since I came so close to qualifying for the US Open in 2004. Ten years down my dream has come true and how.” He skipped the Lyoness Open in Austria to gain time to prepare for Pinehurst. “In America, you need to really focus on driving straight and getting fairways. You cannot limp your way through a course like Pinehurst. So there is plenty of work to do. The greens for the US Open are often hard and fast and so I will need to work towards them.”
