Nov 3, 2013. It’s a real Happy Diwali for India’s Shiv Kapur as he created fireworks on the golf course to win the Dubai City Challenge on the Challenge Tour with a consistent, bogie free round. The Asian Gold Medalist produced some stellar numbers through each round enthralling audiences with eagles now and then. The final round, he played it safe with two birdies on 5th and 10th but pars across the board meant a clean round all the way to victory.

With a sixteen under 202, Kapur show low and clinched the title. The Delhi boy now looks rock solid to take on his next big assignment the Indian Open. Before that special tournament, played on his home course the Delhi Golf Club, Shiv Kapur will be seen at the INDIA GOLF AWARDS powered by www.golfingindian.com where he is expected to be nominated in several key categories.

India’s Shiv Kapur almost set to win the Dubai Festival City Challenge, part of the European Challenge Tour. This is his second win after bagging Kensville in January on the Challenge Tour. Kapur has been in stellar form and continues to play well. Some high points of his career in 2013 have been leading the British Open for the first 8 holes, tied 2nd at the recently held Foshan Open and many others.

Challenge Tour: Two birdies in his last three holes and all of a sudden Lima looks like spoiling McLeary’s Super Sunday, as the man from Portugal pulls within a shot of the Scot who needs second on his own to make the top 15 and earn a debut season on The European Tour. McLeary has two to play, in the same group as the man chasing him down.

Ooh, getting very squeaky out there, as McLeary drops his first shot of the day at the par three 14th to fall back to within two of the chasing pack in third. If he were to be caught it would be game over, so time to look deep inside and see what’s down there. We’ll know the answer in the next hour…

If Shiv Kapur wins this tournament in Dubai, it will be his second win on the Challenge Tour. Kapur won the year’s inaugural tournament at Kensville Gujarat on home soil. He will also secure his European Tour card for 2014.

It’s all getting very tight at the bottom end of this top 15 as Stuart Manley, who entered the week at 21st on the list, has made solid progress on the final day thanks to birdies at the third and 11th holes. He’s up into a tie for third, but he needs at least a second place finish to make the grade. He has played 12 holes, and has chances coming in, but this is all getting a little squeaky.

McLeary with a little daylight here in Dubai after a birdie at the 11th as Kapur retains his four shot advantage with a red number of his own at the tenth. As it stands McLeary would finish 12th on the Rankings and would force Sam Walker out into 16th, one place away from The European Tour.
