October 01, 2014: Shiv Kapur and Jeev Milkha Singh are in Scotland this week, contesting for glory at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at the Old Course of Carnoustie and the Kingsbarns Layouts. The defending champion David Howell will look to pocket some of the US$5mn on offer this week, but all eyes will be on Rory McIlroy to see how we can perform after a terrific Ryder Cup weekend.

The event has two competitions – one for the pros and another a full scale pro-am event for a glittering collection of golfers and stars. We will have men in action from golf, other sports, business and entertainment rubbing shoulders with each other. The last time McIlroy was in the event, he finished second to Michael Hoey in 2011. McIlroy and his father will take on South Africans Charl Schwartzel and the wine merchant Jeremy Ord.

The 2010 winner, Martin Kaymer takes on Louis Oosthuizen playing in the company of amateur partners Patrick Roeseler and Andrew Chandler respectively. Colin Montgomerie can look forward to some new age insights from Yahoo founder Jerry Yang while playing against Padraig Harrington and Irish tycoon JP McManus.

Paul McGinley, the victorious European captain will have the pleasure of playing alongside Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives star Kyle MacLachan taking on Robert Karlsson and Band of Brothers actor Damian Lewis at Carnoustie.

There are plenty of other stars too, decorating the field – Sir Bobby Charlton, Luis Figo, Ruud Gullit, Alan Hansen and Jamie Redknapp, former English cricket captains Michael Vaughan and Sir Ian Botham, multiple Olympic gold medal winner Sir Steve Redgrave and Formula 1 World Champion Damon Hill among others.

For the first three rounds, groups will alternate between St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie, with the final round being a professionals-only affair on the revered Old Course.
