June 05, 2015: Jeev Milkha Singh and Shiv Kapur stumbled in the second round of the Nordea Masters, slipping below the cut line at the European Tour event in Malmo, Sweden. Needing an under par round today, neither man could produce the kind of golf needed to stay up on a course where scoring hasn’t been particularly difficult. Jeev is perched on an even par 144, which is where the projected cut line resides, with some of the field yet to reach the clubhouse. Shiv is two shots back at 146 and stands no real chance of making the weekend. Amateur golfer Marcus Kinhult was impressive yet again, building a two shot lead 9-under 135 through 36 holes.

The 18 year old Swede proved that his first round 67 was no fluke with a solid effort in the second round. He made five birdies in his 68 to gain a two stroke advantage over Sebastian Soderberg and Maximilian Kieffer.

Back to the Indians – Singh, who shot a 71 in the first round made a steady start on Friday. The 43 year old made seven straight pars before ceding a shot at the 17th hole.

Another bogey at the 2nd hole saw him drop over par. Even though he made birdies at the par-4 fifth hole and the par-5 8th, he signed off with a bogey at the ninth to end the day with a 73.

Interestingly, Shiv had an identical start as his illustrious compatriot. Seven pars, a bogey at the 17th and an even five at the 18th saw him make the turn in 37 shots.

The 33 year old slipped further down the charts when he made bogeys at the first and second holes to drop to three over for the round, with six left to play.

His first birdie came at the fifth hole, but it was to be a case of too little too late, as he signed off with four consecutive pars to sign on a 74. Kapur has now missed the cut at four events on the trot starting at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
