Simi Mehra wins Pro Tour leg @Clover

With a round of 68, Simi Mehra closed her win at the Hero Women's Pro Tour leg at Clover Greens.

Hosur, 12th September: The Clover Greens Golf Course today witnessed one of the most dominant performances in the current season, as veteran golfer Smriti Mehra reined supreme in the 10th leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2014. The INR 4,00,000 event, which culminated today, saw Smriti Mehra walkaway with the winners cheque, carding a total of 207 at the end of the third and final round. Trailing Smriti by a huge margin of eight strokes was Delhi youngster Vani Kapoor, who finished second thanks to her impressive comeback yesterday and a cautious round today. Kolkata golfer Neha Tripathi and Shweta Galande from Pune finished at the tied third position with identical totals of 216 after 54 holes.

 

Smriti teed off to an impressive start carding two birdies on 6th and 9th holes along with a lone bogey on the 7thhole to complete her front nine. On her way back, she faltered twice on the 10th and 11th holes but quickly got herself back on track with three successive birdies on the 12th, 13th and 14th holes to finish as the winner, carding the days lowest round of two under 68. Delhi Youngster and Hero Order of Merit leader, VaniKapoor could not keep her momentum going from yesterday, and finished second carding a total of 215 after 54 holes. She began cautiously carding just a lone bogey on the 6th hole in her front nine. She however, took her chances in the back nine finishing with three birdies on the 10th, 12th and 15th holes with an equal number of bogies on the 13th, 16th and 18th holes.

 

Kolkata golfer Neha Tripathi along with Pune’s Shweta Galande finished at the tied third position with identical scores of 216 after the end of the days play. Neha played a calculated round carding the days only other under par score of one under 69. Her round today consisted of 3 birdies on the 2nd, 7th and 16th holes with just 2 bogies on the 8th and 15th holes, while Shwetacarded one birdie on the 2nd hole and two bogeys on the 14th and 18th holes.

 

The tour now moves to Coorg Golf Links, Coorg for the 11th Leg from 16th to 19th September. The Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2014 comprises a total of fifteen legs spanning across key locations in India.
