Smriti Mehra finishes 6th at the Mission Hills Vantage Course

November 6, 2014: Smriti Mehra remained within the qualification range, making a 75 in the second round and climb to 6th at the 2015 Tour School Pre Qualifying C – Asia event in China. The Indian is tied sixth with Chinese amateur Cai Danting at five-over 149. Amateurs have take centre stage on Thursday, with Wei Wei Zhang and Jienalin Zhang taking the top two positions on the leaderboard.

 

Smriti gave away shots at the sixth, eleventh and twelfth holes on Mission Hills Hainan’s Vantage Course. The Indian made her lone birdie of the round at the 10th hole.

 

Neha Tripathi is lying tenth after turning in a much improved performance in the second round. Neha shot 74 on Thursday to follow her 80 in the first round to close day two at 10-over 154.

 

Ankita Tiwana though could not find much on Thursday, following a 79 in the first round with 78 today to remain last on the leaderboard. Tiwana is at 13-over 157 with Korea’s Terry Jang.

 

Wei had a terrific round of golf on Thursday as he shot into the lead at 5-under 139. The Chinese woman had a spotless 69, supported by birdies at the 4th, 7th and 13th holes.

 

Jienalin had a good effort too, but she needed six birdies to stay just one shot back from her compatriot. Jienalin also gave away shots at the 6th, 15th and 18th holes to post a 69 and finish at 4-under 140.
