January 3, 2014: Eighteen Indian golfers led by Indonesian Open winner Gaganjeet Bhullar will vie for King’s Cup title at Hua Hin in Thailand from January 16-19.

The 26-year-old Anirban Lahiri displayed some exemplary form amid elite field of Thai Golf Championship last year, where he finished tied fourth. He would like to begin this year on positive note as well.

Ranked fourth on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, Gaganjeet Bhullar is back in-form this December, when he won his fifth Asian Tour title with the victory at Indonesia Open. He defeated Malaysian Nicholas Fung and Chapchai Nirat from Thailand. Bhullar too would like to carry forth his good form into King’s Cup.

The two-title winner on Challenge Tour in 2013, Shiv Kapur too will be keen to make his mark on Asian Tour in the New Year. So, will be the aim of seasoned Jyoti Randhawa, who has been close to winning but missed a win in the past year.

In the first event of 2014 season, competent Indians like Himmat Rai, Sujjan Singh, Digvijay Singh and SSP Chowrasia will be on a victory hunt.

Thai golfer Arnond Vongvanij will try to defend his home title when the US$1 million King’s tees off at the Black Mountain Golf Club.

Last year, Arnond seized his maiden win on the Asian Tour when he pipped veterans Mardan Mamat of Singapore and countryman Thaworn Wiratchant to the prestigious King’s Cup title.

“This will be my first time defending a title and I guess I’m just going to enjoy that experience,” said 25-year –old Arnond.

For the first time ever, the King’s Cup will be broadcast live, over four rounds on the Asian Tour’s global television platform which reaches over 180 countries and 640 million homes, ensuring extensive worldwide exposure for the popular beach resort town of Hua Hin, sponsors, and the Kingdom of Thailand itself.
