1. The inaugural EurAsia Cup will be held at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club in Malaysia from March 27-29, 2014 with DRB-HICOM Berhad as the Presenting Partner.

 

2. The tournament styled after the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup, the Eurasia Cup pits 10 of the finest golfers from Asia and Europe over three days of exhilarating contest, which officials predict will herald the start of a new and exciting rivalry between the two powerhouse continents.

 

3. Jointly sanctioned by the Asian Tour and The European Tour, The EurAsia Cup will be held biennially.

 

4. The specially commissioned trophy of the EurAsia Cup is designed by Professional Golf of Malaysia chairman Tun Ahmad Sarji and crafted by master craft man Hassan Mat Jusoh of KB Permai Krafperak Kelantan Silver. Handcrafted trophy is made by using traditional Malaysian techniques with the sterling silver piece weighing over six kilograms and stands 18 inches tall.

 

5. Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand leads team Asia. The team members include, Kiradech Aphibarnrat (Thailand), Gaganjeet Bhullar (India), Nicholas Fung (Malaysia), Kim Hyung-sung (Korea,) Anirban Lahiri (India), Prayad Marksaeng (Thailand), Koumei Oda (Japan), Siddikur Rahman (Bangladesh), Hideto Tanihara (Japan).

 

6. Team Europe will be captained by Miguel-Angel Jimenez of Spain. Team members include Thomas Bjorn (Denmark), Jamie Donaldson (Wales), Victor Dubuisson (France), Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano (Spain), Stephen Gallacher (Scotland), Pablo Larrazabal (Spain), Joost Luiten (Netherlands), Graeme McDowell (N Ireland), and Thorbjorn Olesen (Denmark).

 

7. About the captains, Thongchai Jaidee is a winner of an unprecedented three Asian Tour Order of Merit titles and has 16 professional victories to his name, including five wins on the European Tour and two Malaysian Open titles. While, Miguel Jimenez has played an astonishing 28 consecutive years on the European Tour, amassing 20 tournament wins along the way and has been a member of several victorious Ryder Cup teams.

 

8. The Course Glenmarie Golf and Country Club was opened in January 1994. American master designer Max Wexler designed the Valley and Garden Courses. In 2008-2009, another renowned course designer, Ted Parslow re-touched the Valley Course to upgrade it into a competition standard course.

 

9. The format of play for the EurAsia Cup will see five fourball matches being played on the first day (March 27, Thursday) followed by five foursomes matches on day two (March 28, Friday) and 10 singles matches on the final day (March 29, Saturday) at Glenmarie’s Garden course.

 

10. With a total prize fund of US$ 4,000,000, the each player of the winning team will be given US$ 300,000. While,the each player of the losing team will get US$ 100,000.
