August 24, 2013. Thongchai Jaidee showed some exceptional golfing aptitude as he rode on a hot putter to shoot a three-under-par 69 in the second round of the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles in Scotland on Friday.

The Thai star, who holds an unprecedented three Asian Tour Order of Merit titles, registered nine-under-par 135 to lie five shots back from the leader Ricardo Gonzalez of Argentina.

“The key is putting, I was so confident. That’s why I make three?under today. I hit a lot of greens, I hit the 14th green and make a lot of good putts. I’m five shots away from the top of the leader board, I think try to make it up tomorrow,” said Thongchai.

Thongchai who is battling for a spot in the 10-man Presidents Cup International Team, has long week ahead to prove his eligibility. The Thai is currently ranked 11th in the standings and will need strong results in Scotland and at the ISPS Wales Open, where he will defend his title, next week.
