August 25, 2016:  Thai legend Thongchai Jaidee has been unanimously voted as the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month for July.

Thongchai, who holds an unprecedented three Asian Tour Order of Merit crowns, claimed an emphatic victory at the 100th Open de France for his fourth win on European soil.

The 46-year-old cruised to a four-shot victory after carding a final round three-under-par 69 for an 11-under-par 273 aggregate to become the oldest champion at the Open de France.

He also finished in 22nd place at The Open to end his campaign in the oldest Major tournament as the highest ranked Asian.

“I’m happy to receive this award from Hilton as it shows that hard work pays off. This is a special award that recognizes my achievements,” said Thongchai.

“I would also like to thank my fans who voted for me and I hope to continue to shine and represent my country and Asia on the international stage,” he added.

The Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month award is one of the partnership initiatives aimed at recognising outstanding efforts of Asian Tour members both at home and abroad.

The online voting contest on asiantour.hiltongolf.com to determine the monthly winner, engages golf fans as they vote for their favourite golfer through the Asian Tour’s media channels, culminating with fans voting for the Asian Tour Hilton Golfer of the Year at the end of 2016.

Besides casting their vote for their favourite player on the Asian Tour, fans, who log onto asiantour.hiltongolf.com also stand a chance to win a one night stay at any Hilton property of their choice.

Thongchai won the award ahead of Chinese Taipei’s Chan Shih-chang and Spaniard Carlos Pigem where the trio were nominated by a selection panel before going into a voting process.
