Nov 11, 2016: Amateur golfer Tvesa Malik, who played the Hero Women Indian Open last year came back again this year when the tournament has reached its 10th edition. Today was the first round and Tvesa scored one birdie and missed a few, suffering bogies on the front nine. However, Tvesa is hopeful that tomorrow her game will be better.

“The course is playing a little bit easier than last year. It’s not as tricky as it was last year. I think I have improved a little bit since then and I have improved my game. Today was not great but hopefully, tomorrow will be better,” said the 20-year-old golfer.

She knows that she will have to put in a good round tomorrow to earn the right to stay on for Sunday.

Tvesa plans to turn professional next year and pursue her dreams of playing in Europe and USA. She played the Queen Sirikut Cup in Korea, World Amateur Championship in Mexico and SINGHA Thailand Amateur Open in Thailand this year before coming for the HWIO 2016.

The Gurgaon-based golfer told Golfing Indian that she started playing at the age of 12 with her father when her family was living in Kolkata. She has been playing in amateur tournaments and representing India globally for five years now. But it was only two years ago that she realized she was more focused about the game and that she wants to take it up professionally.

About her game currently, she mentioned, “I think I have improved but there is still a lot left to be worked upon.” As the season comes to an end, she is looking forward to playing a few more tournaments lined up in Kolkata and the All Indian Amateur Championship.
