December 18: Gurbani Singh consolidated her position at the top of the leaderboard, carding an even par 70 for the second day running to pull five shots clear of the field going into the final day of the USHA All India Ladies & Junior Girls Amateur Golf Championship 2013, being played at the prestigious Bombay Presidency Golf Club (BPGC).

Gurbani upped her birdie count by one from the opening day to four, but two bogeys and a double bogey on the par four ninth, meant she missed a sub-par round by a whisker.

Aditi Ashok of Bangalore was lying second, following up her three over 73 from day one with a two over 72 on day two. Aditi also trails Gurbani in second position in the Order of Merit list.

Joint day one leader Ridhima Dilawari seemed to be fading away from the title race carding a seven over 77 to end up in fourth position.

Gursimar Badwal on the other hand held on to her third position on the leaderboard matching her day one score of three over 73.

Pre-tournament favourite Gauri Monga, who had a horror opening day by her standards when she carded a six over 76, seems to be getting back to her groove with a much improved two over 72 to lie fifth. But she is eight strokes behind Gurbani and it might be too much to catch up on the final day, especially with the consistency Gurbani has shown thus far on the Presidency course.

A title win here is sure to seal Gurbani’s top position finish on the Order of Merit list for the second year running. Aditi Ashok however might just have other ideas.
