Ahmedabad, 15th January 2015: Noida golfer Vaishavi Sinha played a splendid round of golf today to walk away with the winner’s cheque in the second leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2015. Vaishavi, who started her day as the joint second on the leader board played with utmost caution to finish at the top with 218 after the final round, three shots clear of overnight leader and rookie golfer Amandeep Drall, who finished second. The INR 7,00,000 event is being played at the picturesque Kalhaar Blues & Greens, Ahmedabad.

 

Noida’s Vaishavi Sinha today displayed some great golf as she stormed ahead to win the second leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2015. Vashavi finished her final round carding a total of 218, which included three birdies on the 11th, 13th and 14th holes along with a couple of bogeys on the 4th and 12th holes. Overnight leader Amandeep Drall failed to maintain her momentum, as she faltered with five bogeys on the 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 18th holes, and a double bogey on the 15th hole. She carded just two birdies on the 10th and 11th holes to finish second in the tournament, carding a total of 221 after the final round.

 

Veteran golfer Smriti Mehra finished third with a total score of 227 after the final round. Her round consisted of four bogeys on the 1st, 4th, 6th and 10th holes, a double bogey on the 15th hole and a birdie on the 13th hole. Delhi’s Vani Kapoor, who showed signs of improvement with her impressive round yesterday, had an indifferent day today finishing fourth with a total of 229 after 54 holes. Her round consisted of five bogeys on the 2nd, 5th, 13th, 14th and 15th holes, with a solitary birdie on the 1st hole. Three double bogeys on the 4th, 7th and 8th holes did not help her cause.

 

Kapurthala golfer Gursimar Badwal finished fifth with a final round total of 231. Her birdie less round today consisted of two double bogeys on the 5th and 7th holes along with 4 bogeys on the 6th, 10th, 11th and 16th holes respectively.

 

Pune’s Shweta Galande and Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi finished joint 6th with identical scores of 232 while Chandigarh’s Saaniya Sharma finished 8th with a total of 235 after 54 holes.   The Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2015 now moves eastwards for the third leg, which will be hosted by the historical Royal Calcutta Golf Club.
