July 09, 2015: Delhi golfers Vani Kapoor and Mehar Atwal played controlled golf in difficult conditions to share the lead in the second round of the 10th leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2015. They finished the round with identical scores of 146 to finish ahead of Chandigarh golfer Saaniya Sharma in third place with a total score of 148. The INR 7,00,000 event is being played at the Eagleton Golf Resort and will culminate on 10th July.

Overnight leader Mehar Atwal played an impressive front nine, carding two birdies on the 8th and 9th holes while dropping just one shot on the 6th hole. However, she could not sustain the momentum and carded four bogies on the 10th, 11th, 15th and 16th holes in her back nine to finish the round with a score of 3 over 75. Hero Order of Merit leader Vani Kapoor returned with a card of 2 over 74, best effort by a professional on the day. She played a cautious front nine, carding just two bogies on the 5th and 7th holes. The Delhi youngster played with much more aggression in the latter half carding two birdies on the 11th and 18th holes along with an equal number of bogies on the 10th and 16th holes to share the lead with the defending champion.

Chandigarh golfer Saaniya Sharma carded 4 over 76 in the second round to grab the third position. She carded four birdies on the 1st, 5th, 13th and 15th holes, maximum by any golfer on the day. However, four bogies on the 2nd, 4th, 9th and 18th holes along with two double bogies on the 3rd and 16th holes marred her score line and she had to be content with a total score of 148 after 36 holes.

Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi and Kapurthala golfer Gursimar Badwal are tied for the fourth spot with identical totals of 149 at the end of the second day. Neha Tripathi started with intent, carding a birdie on the 1st hole and added another on the 6th hole. However, she faltered and carded a double bogie on the 8th hole, followed by a bogie on the 9th hole. She played a birdie-less back nine dropping two shots on the 11th and 15th holes to finish the round with a score of 3 over 75. Gursimar Badwal could not sustain her first round momentum and carded six bogies on the 5th, 6th, 10th, 11th, 13th and 16th holes with a lone birdie on the 17th hole to finish the day with a score of 5 over 77.

Amateur Diksha Dagar carded 2 over 74 to match the best score of the day with Vani Kapoor. She played a bogey-free front nine with a birdie on the 4th hole. However, three successive bogies on the 11th, 12th and 13th holes undid her good work and she is placed sixth with a total score of 150 after 36 holes. Pune’s Shweta Galande and Delhi golfer Ankita Tiwana are in tied seventh position with identical scores of 151. They are followed by Panchkula golfer Amandeep Drall in ninth spot with a total score of 152.
