Virat Kohli has been getting to know golf if not play it just yet. The cricketer was spotted at a golf course exploring its facilities and understanding what it takes to play golf. Sitting in a cart he picked some quick lessons in the concept of a ball lie, the challenges around the greens, and the general landscape that often seems simpler than its actual challenging terrain. Will the right handed batsman start playing soon like other fellow cricketers? Not yet given how hectic his cricket commitments are but early learning is not something he may rule out.

Golf businessman and supplier of Taylormade products in India, Ateet Gaur got Kohli to see some of the golf infrastructure set up near the Delhi Gurgaon border at a new nine hole golf course. “The course is able to offer golfing every day till 1130pm. It’s perfect thing for him to play in night if possible in his free time. We just called him to showcase the new golf course and facilities,” says Gaur of the real estate. Kohli who lives in Gurgaon is a hop from some of the country’s top courses and so if he indeed does find some time to spend teeing up, it will accessible.

Golf yes is a great game. That connect of the club to the ball can bring a high: Sachin

Cricketers can be a great source of inspiration for upcoming golfers. Heroes in their own sport, their popularity and any extended association with golf can help bring more spotlight on to the game. Sachin Tendulkar created a huge media blitzkrieg when he was seen golfing with India’s pro players.

“Golf yes is a great game. That connect of the club to the ball can bring a high,” shared Tendulkar in a golfingindian.com interview couple of years ago. “There is clearly something in it. I like the knowledge that golf is a game to be played in silence. In tennis too there is quiet before people play unlike cricket. The silence is a new experience for me.” Later Tendulkar caught up with Tiger Woods on the latter’s maiden visit to India.
