April 5, 2014. Pull out your umbrellas and jackets if you’re heading to the Masters next week because it could be a wet one.

A weather system from the Gulf is expected to come through the area Sunday and could stick around through Wednesday evening, bringing showers and cooler-than-ideal temperatures.

Mike Proud, meteorologist for the National Weather Service, said the forecast is predicting mid-60s for the beginning of the week, but it could actually be lower.

“We may struggle for the mid-60s at mid week,” Proud said.

It’s also a little too early to tell just how wet the beginning of the week will be. Sunday has a 50 percent chance of rain and Monday has a 60 percent chance.

After the system moves through Wednesday evening, temperatures are expected to climb back up to normal, but it could be a gradual climb.

“By Friday, we ought to be back toward 70 degrees,” Proud said.
