September 08, 2015: Aditi Ashok showed yet again, why she is rated so highly with a controlled performance in the first round of the Thailand Amateur Championship. The young Indian shot 71 on the first day of the tournament to lead the girls.

The 17 year old made birdies at the 1st, 6th and 13th holes in a good opening day effort at the Panya Indra Golf Club in Bangkok. Aditi lost shots at the 4th and 17th, accounting for her one under total of 71.

Samarth Dwivedi suffered a poor start. He signed on a five over 77 to end the first day in 30th position. The Indian has roots in Thailand, having been born in the country. He is currently ranked third on the IGU Order of Merit.

The Indian amateur contingent of Jaibir Singh (#8 on the IGU men amateur Order of Merit), Hemendra Choudhary (#4 on the IGU men amateur Order of Merit), Seher Atwal, (#3 on the IGU ladies amateur Order of Merit) and Anisha Padukone (#5 on the IGU ladies amateur Order of Merit) that was picked by the Indian Golf Union as per rotational basis, finished 62nd, 63rd, 32nd and 37th respectively.

Local lad Napong Sriprasit was the leader in the men’s category at two-under 70 in a field of 120 players from 12 countries.

Aditi has been in tremendous form this season – notching the second WGAI title of her nascent career with a comfortable victory at the KGA in Bengaluru. She scaled newer heights when she clinched a comfortable victory at the Ladies British Amateur Championship.
