September 09, 2015: Sujjan Singh’s triumphant run through mainland America, resulting in a solid victory is a timely reminder of the growing depth of golf in India. The 35 year old golfer averaged 70.9 through a series of events across the USA to emerge winner from a group of ten professionals.

The group of men traveled across the States, covering nearly 20000kms going from course to course to create awareness and build a platform for Indian golfers.

The initiative, conducted under the banner of IAPGA proved to be a great success with the local communities. The Indian diaspora was especially enthused by the quality of golf offered by this ambitious group of golfers.

“The typical journey of golfers through the ADT, Asian Tour, European Tour followed by the Web.com Tour and then the PGA is an arduous game of snake and ladders that consumes most golfers,” said Sujjan. “The IAPGA has provided a platform for Indian golfers to showcase their skills, experience golf in America and encourage community funding to assist golfers pursue opportunities on the Web.com and PGA Tours.”

The six week tour was organised by Gurbaaz Mann, a professional golfer in his own right, who took the initiative to create a platform for these golfers in the USA. The ten golfers traveled through 22 cities over a period of 43 days, playing on several American courses in the process.

The group included Ajeetesh Sandhu, Amardip Malik, Abhijit Chadha, Ashbeer Saini, Abhishek Jha, Rahul Bajaj, Angad Cheema, Shubhankar Sharma, Gurbaaz Mann and Sujjan Singh.

The local Indo-American community responded with generosity to drive participation and generate the funds to keep the tour on the road.

“I would like to thank a whole lot of people and my fellow pros from India to make this a reality. They and the Indian community and volunteers like Rachel Varghese supported the vision and promoted the tour with their own time and expenses,” said Mann.

If Mann and his adventurous collection of golfers can keep the spirit and the tour going, it could usher in a new era of opportunity for professional golfers in India.
