April 18, 2015: Now that was an incredibly good round of golf from a man on the ropes. Yesterday, Anirban Lahiri was busy dealing with the prospect of a missed cut. Having sneaked into the weekend with nothing to spare, Anirban shot a mighty impressive 66 on Saturday to soar over 50 spots on the leaderboard. At the time of this report, Anirban was lying T13, but several golfers were still out on the course with the third round still in progress. Lahiri is currently lying 5-under 208 through 54 holes. In a round loaded with brilliance, Anirban was mighty impressive on Saturday at the Harbour Town Golf Links. At the par-5 second hole, Anirban drove 276 yards to the left fairway, before sailing onto the green with his second shot.

The Indian made the most of his good start, gaining a shot to go back under par. He upped the ante significantly higher at the next par-5, which happened to be the fifth hole.

After firing his tee shot into the rough on the left off the fairway, Anirban chose aggression and it paid off handsomely. He covered a massive 274 yards with his second shot, lodging his ball on the right fairway, about 45 yards from the flag. Anirban made an eagle by dropping the ball in the cup with his third shot.

Four straight pars from there meant that he made the turn in 33 shots, setting himself up for a good round. But the world No.35 must have been weary, considering how things went for him on the back nine in the second round.

Playing with immense poise, Anirban made a 10 footer for birdie at the 11th hole as he went four under without so much as a scratch on his elegant card.

The 15th hole saw plenty of incident for the Indian. His tee shot was wayward, landing under the tree outline. His second shot from there ended up in the right rough, but it wasn’t too nasty. Anirban played a brilliant third shot to get to the green.

Even though he was nearly 25 feet away from the pin, Anirban found a brilliant shot to sink the ball in the cup and bring out his fist to celebrate with his caddie.

The blemishless performance in the third round should help Anirban come out and play another confident round on Sunday. With the prospect of weather turning bad tomorrow, the PGA Tour folks have decided to have golfers tee off from the 1st and 10th tomorrow.
