June 5, 2014. Gaganjeet Bhullar has clearly teed ahead in the first round of the Lyoness Open scoring two under 72. With marvellous five birdies, he has put up a commendable performance. After the slow and disappointing performance, Jeev Milkha Singh seems to have shifted gears at the Lyoness Open. The tournament on the European Tour saw him play quite well, scoring one under par 72 in the very first round. In comparison, one of the other two players, SSP Chowrasia stayed a bit behind the pack.

Gaganjeet’s opening was gripping as he gained a birdie in the very first hole. Despite three bogeys , three birdies in the tenth, thirteenth and fourteenth holes. The back nine clearly made it clear that Bhullar was leading the game in the first round. Jeev too managed to open commendably with two birdies in the first and second holes. A bogey in the third hole however, seemed to bring the game a little down for Jeev especially when he followed it up with two more bogeys in the ninth and seventeenth hole. The front nine proved luckier for Jeev when he scored three birdies.

Chowrasia after being on a new high at the Laguna National, did not fare well when he signed off with three over par 72. For most of the holes he struck at par but when he hit one bogey in the seventeenth hole and a double bogey in the fifteenth hole, the total sliipped. The first round of Lyoness Open has been challenging specially for strong winds. English player, Richard Bland took the lead so far at the Open. Defending champion Joost Luiten, who started in the afternoon, raced to four under par with four gains in his first five holes. He remained on that mark through all seven holes.
