June 6, 2014. Rashid Khan today sizzled during the second round of the Queen’s Cup in Koh Samui by shooting 66 even though Manav Jaini and Sankar Das held on to positions in the leader mix. Anirban Lahiri did much better as when he signed off at three under par 68 in R2, a brilliant comeback after first round.

“I hit it really good today but putted poorly to say the least. Just made one bogey with a three putt. Probably missed only two greens all day. I had 33 putts to shoot three under. Hit it really good. It’s not an easy course to hit many greens and fairways and I did that,” shared Anirban.

Korea’s Baek Seuk-hyun fired a blistering five-under-par 66 to put himself in prime position for a maiden Asian Tour victory midway.

The 25-year-old Baek, who has notched seven top-fives since 2013 including a runner-up finish in Indonesia recently, penciled down eight birdies against three bogeys at the Santiburi Samui Country Club for a seven-under-par 135 total in the US$300,000 Asian Tour event.

Among other Indians Rahil Gangjee finished one over par 143 just like Lahiri’s total. Khan despite his stellar round today notched up a total of 144 and so did Jyoti Randhawa. Khan shot two bogies but the seven birdies that he gained made up for it giving him a marvellous round. Jyoti Randhawa, who has had some great shots in the past has not performed that well with two over par 144. Digvijay just about manage to make the cut and got a four over 144.

Some of the prominent Indian players who failed to make the cut are Angad Cheema, Abhijit Singh Chadha and Chikka S. M. Dharma and Abhinav Lohan are the two other golfers who failed to qualify for the final rounds.
