Another victory at Jaipur could be an icing on the cake for Vani Kapoor

This year has been an extremely special year for me. With the start of 2015, that big win – the first tournament and that too on my birthday. Could I ask for more? It was indeed a special start. Being No.1 again this year has given me immense confidence which will help me a lot on other tours. But no year is complete without its ups and downs and this one was no different. There were times when I was not personally satisfied with my game. But what helped me was hanging in there and still retaining my position. It taught me that the most important thing in golf is to score well even if your swing does not fall in place. My coach, family and a few friends put a lot of planning into my game this year. The way I look at my practice session is different now. It’s gruelling but at the same time more fun. My efforts towards time management have become much better. At the end of the year I just feel more positive as a player. I feel stronger mentally and I have calmed down on the course. That can be pretty important.

I just look forward to improving my ability and continuing on the same lines and bring in good results in 2016 on the Indian, Asian and European Tours. The Hero Women’s Indian Open this year gave me a big boost. I was extremely happy to finish in top 20 and even more excited to win the Hero Pleasure Scooter. This was on my checklist and I’m glad to have made a tick on it. But this is just the start.

One of the most memorable moments of my life was the one I experienced in Sanya Open in China this year, where I represented the Asian Tour. I can’t put the experience down in words. When I was walking towards the first tee at the opening ceremony along with 2 other players one representing the LET Tour and the other was the defending champion, I had tears in my eyes. It was the best feeling ever. All three of us were escorted and then introduced. We were also made to hit the inaugural shot. I will remember this experience throughout my life.
