Nov 10, 2016: The HWIO 2015 winner, Emily Kristen Pederson from Denmark is back in India for the 10th edition of the tournament starting this Friday at the DLF Golf and Country Club to defend her title. Emily has not strategized her game but knowing the course will prove to be an advantage for her over the players who will be playing this course for the first time, she told Golfing Indian.

“It’s nice to be back and it brings back a lot of great memories from last year which makes it comfortable for me to be here but I try to treat it as a normal week,” she said when asked if she feels different coming here as she won the last time.

The DLF golf course is playing a lot different this time as it is holding the ball much better than last season. Emily Pedersen thinks this could be an influential factor on the outcome. “It is going to make it a lot harder this time as the greens are playing really good and some of the Tees are a bit further back and that is going to be good.”

She added, “It is still pretty much the same, you still need to hit a lot of good shots and I think my game is in a good place right now.”

The Danish golfer, who has been playing for a decade now, revealed that she had some good results in this season but they had a tough season as they did not have many tournaments this time. But she is really happy with how her game is developing and hopes to get a cup result this time as well.

Aditi Ashok

When we asked who her serious opponents in this tournament are, she identified American player Beth Allen and Aditi Ashok from India as her competition.

“Aditi is a really nice girl and she is very talented, obviously doing really really good and I can’t see why it should not continue.”
