Seven Indians have played at the Majors. All seven have appeared at the British Open.

 

 

Jeev Milkha Singh has made 13 Major appearances so far, the most by an Indian. Arjun Atwal and Jyoti Randhawa with five Major appearances each are second on this list.

 

Jeev has most appearances at the US Masters (3), US Open (4) and PGA Championship (4).

 

Gaurav Ghei was the first Indian to appear at a Major when he played the 1997 British Open at the Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland.

 

 

Jeev Milkha Singh and Arjun Atwal are the only two Indians to have played all four Majors. Jeev has made the cut at all Majors while Arjun has never made the cut at a Major.

 

Jeev Milkha Singh was the first Indian to play the US Masters (2007) and US Open (2002).

 

Arjun Atwal was the first Indian to play the PGA Championship (2005).

 

Jeev Milkha Singh’s tied ninth finish at the 2008 PGA Championship played at Oakland Hills CC in Michigan, has been the best result for an Indian at a Major.

 

Jeev Milkha Singh has also recorded the best finishes at the US Masters (2008 – Tied 25th) and US Open (2007 – Tied 36th) among Indians.

 

Jyoti Randhawa is one of only three Indians to have played two or more Majors out of four and holds the record for the best result by an Indian at the British Open (2004 – Tied 27th). He has the most appearances at the British Open (3).

 

Jeev Milkha Singh and Anirban Lahiri are the only two Indians to make the cut at their debut Major appearances. Jeev achieved the feat at the 2002 US Open while Anirban followed suit at the 2012 British Open.

 

Two Indians have made the cut at the same Major only once. Jeev Milkha Singh and Anirban Lahiri achieved this at the 2012 British Open.

 

Anirban Lahiri’s tied 31st finish at the 2012 British Open was the best result by an Indian in his debut Major appearance. Lahiri became the first Indian to make a hole-in-one at a Major during round three of the 2012 British Open.
