March 10, 2014: Thai ace Thongchai Jaidee barged into top 50 players in the world after his 6th place finish in the elite field of WGC-Cadillac Championship on Sunday. Jaidee is currently ranked 46th in the world.
The three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner carded a fine 68 in the final round at Trump National, Doral to move up the ladder of Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) to 46th from his 53rd place last week.
Thongchai(73-74-74-68) scored four round total of one-over 289, and was jointly tied sixth along with American Bill Haas and Stephen Gallacher.
After trading two birdies for two bogeys on the front nine at Trump National Doral, Jaidee was blemish-free, with four birdies, on the back. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that he was able to post such a solid score without recording a birdie on a par 5.
Heading for the first EurAsia cup to be held in Malaysia in the last week of March, Asian team captain, Jaidee is best placed Asian in OWGR.
