On his three-day annual Christmas holiday, US President Barack Obama took time out to tee at Kailua’s golf course in Hawaii. Every year Obama and his family escape Washington’s cold weather to enjoy sun-soaked holiday at his birth state on the shores of Oahu.

The town of Kailua has been abuzz since Obama landed here with locals and tourists alike, jostling to get a good view of him.

“Merry Christmas guys,” greeted President Obama to the residents after the 17th hole at Mid Pacific Country Club in Lanikai, Hawaii news now reported.

Between holes the President greeted some residents of the Blue Stone gated community who were clamoring for his attention. Residents and tourists were excited to see him.

Security around the golf course, it is learnt, has been extremely tight but not overboard and bothersome to members. Members in the golf course were seen clicking pictures of the President Obama playing golf.

Obama, apart from golf, has also been hitting the beach with his family, watching basket ball and exploring hiking trails during this short Christmas break.

The President has golfed at MidPac several times in the past. He’s also hiked the nearby Lanikai Pillbox trail two years ago which residents say popularized the place and brought crowds of people day and night.
