May 16, 2014: India’s SSP Chowrasia shot a 71 on second consecutive day to be placed at 6th position at the ICTSI Philippine Open, which is led by Marcus Both of Australia, who took over the halfway lead with a flawless six-under-par 66 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Anirban Lahiri shot a card of three-under-69 to be tied 16th after two days in the Philippine Open.

Both, a two-time Asian Tour winner lost his Tour card last season after show of poor form but he came up confident this time as he fired six birdies for an eight-under-par 136 total at the challenging Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.

Joint overnight leader Chan Kim of the United States bogeyed his last two holes for a 72 to sit in second, two shots from both, while Siddikur Rahman of Bangladesh was in third position following a 73 at the US$300,000 Asian Tour event.

Chowrasia’s made two birdies against a bogey on Friday, to keep himself among the top 10 contenders on the leader board. A two-time winner on the Asian Tour, SSP is looking for a third victory on the Tour since Avantha Masters in 2011.

Anirban tried to recover from his first round 75 to a decent 69 in second round with four birdies against one bogey on 6th. The Asian Tour merit leader has shown some of his best golfing talent this year, as he won Indonesian Masters besides three other top 10 finishes. Currently ranked 64th on the Official World Golf Ranking, Lahiri will be aiming for a victory at the venerable Wack Wack Golf and Country Club to give himself a chance to break into the top-60 in the world by May 26th to qualify for the U.S. Open in June.

Abhijit Chadha is the third Indian playing weekend at Manila. Chadha lies at 42nd place after two round (75,72) total of 147.
