Nov 9, 2016: Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, one of Europe’s most acclaimed golfing destinations, played host to the European Tour Qualifying School 2nd Stage for a sixth time over the weekend – culminating in a tense final round where a play-off was needed to decide the golfers going into the Final Stage.

With the Troon-managed course in stunning condition and earning praise from the strong field on show, the battle at Las Colinas Golf & Country Club saw 16 players progress to the Final Stage of qualifying through the regulation 72 holes. These included overall winner Oscar Lengden from Sweden, former British Amateur Champion Bradley Neill and European Tour winner Maarten Lafeber.

Meanwhile, another two players – Englishman James Allan and Italian Andrea Maestroni – claimed the final spots of the 18 making their way into the Final Stage after holding their nerve in a play-off. Seeing off Bjorn Hellgren, Matthew Nixon and amateur David Boote, Essex golfer Allan birdied the second sudden death hole, whilst Maestroni birdied the fourth play-off hole to seal his place in the final.
