May 19, 2014: After 683 weeks of Supremacy in the golfing world, Tiger Woods no more remains No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings. Australia’s Adam Scott takes over Woods as No.1, after spending 38 weeks at No.2 in the world rankings. However, Scott gathers another milestone without taking a swing at Byron Nelson Championship last week. His first Official tournament as World No. 1 would be Crown Plaza Invitational this week.

The 33-year-old Scott, who recently got married to Marie Kojar, is second Australian after legendary Greg Norman to accomplish this feat.

Scott is still waiting for a win on Tour this year, his best finish coming at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he closed with a 76 to lie third. It was when the top four in ranking, Scott, Henrik Stenson, Bubba Watson and Matt Kuchar, any one could have scaled to No. 1 with a strong finishes at the Players last week. However, none could reach within the top 10 at TPC Sawgrass.

The official word on Woods return to the course is yet to come, nevertheless, when he does, Scott might have to work hard to retain the position.

Since the inception of Official World Golf Rankings, only 17 golfers have held the number one position.
