Anirban Lahiri chasing major glory in PGA Championship

Anirban Lahiri is looking to recreate the experience of 2015 when he scripted the best ever major performance by an Indian golfer.

July 26, 2016: Anirban Lahiri is set to tee off in the afternoon session on Thursday, as the 98th PGA Championship gets off the groundon Thursday. The 64th ranked Indian will tee off with Tony Finau and Matthew Fitzpatrick, two very promising players. The troika will get off the blocks at 1255 pm on Thursday from the first tee.

Bradley Dredge, Patton Kizzire and Mark R Brown will open proceedings at 0700 am. At the same time, Chris Kirk, Wyatt Worthington II and Freddie Jacobson get off the 10th tee to begin play on the stretch to the clubhouse.

Exactly 30 minutes after Lahiri’s group gets into play, the high voltage group of Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth and Sergio Garcia start their round at the first hole.

The stars on the tenth tee start glittering at 0830 am. Jason Day, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy will begin their first round on the 10th tee.

Dustin Johnson, Danny Willett and Henrik Stenson will make their way to the first tee at 0145 pm. This is power combination for the first two rounds, featuring the three major champions this season.

Japanese Hideki Matsuyama will also tee off from the tenth tee box at 0720 am. He will be accompanied by J B Holmes and Brian Stuard.

The last groups go off the tee at 0215 pm. Mitch Lowe, Kevin Streelman Young-han Song will have the honour of being the last group on the first tee. Brad Ott, Bryce Molder and Si Woo Kim will be the last group on the tenth tee.

Fans will hope to see Anirban recreate the magic he produced last year in the PGA Championship. The golfer from Bengaluru fired a brilliant 68 in an intense final round to finish inside the top 5 of the final major of the season.

Anirban will have an early start on Friday, starting at 0740 am at tenth tee. With the Olympics round the corner, this will be a unique experience for the Indian golfer, who is eager to do well in Rio.
