November 7, 2013. Gaganjeet Bhullar, eager to win the Indian Open at the Delhi Golf Club, gave himself a great booster by leading his team to a fine win in the Pro-Am of the 50th Hero Indian Open which kick-started the Golden Jubilee edition of the tournament.

The Pro-Am was delayed by an hour due to fog in the morning. Bhullar’s team included a superstar octogenarian Milkha Singh, who was the toast of the gathering.

The other two members of the team were Manish Sanwalka, son-in-law of Milkha, and Arunjit Sodhi.

“That’s a nice way to start the week,” said Bhullar. “We are fortunate to have one of the greatest Indian sportspersons (referring to Milkha Singh) with us today. It was a privilege playing with him,” he added.

Rashid Khan’s team of cricketer Madan Lal, Vidur Chopra and Vipin Verma were second, while US PGA winner Michael Thompson helped his team, comprising Sunil Sawhney, Anil Budhiraja and Karan Thandhi to the third place.

Sanjay Sharma won the longest drive, while Veera Singh was the best in the ‘Nearest to the Pin’ contest.
